VICTIM NAMES RELEASED IN STABBING DEATH IN SEASIDE

 

Seaside Police have identified the victim of the early Monday morning stabbing death as Bruce Eric Hutchison age 43 of 385 18th Avenue. Early Monday morning (3:53 a.m.) Seaside Police responded to a report of a man stabbed at 385 18th Ave. The first officer on the scene found a female in the street who reported that she woke up next to her boyfriend with her son stabbing him. She fled the residence and contacted police by cell phone.

 

The first officer on the scene saw movement inside the residence and immediately set up a perimeter. Additional officers responded from Clatsop County Sheriffs Office, Cannon Beach, Gearhart, and Warrenton to assist. A Seaside hostage negotiator attempted to make contact but could get no response from inside the residence. Once additional officers arrived at the scene, the residence was entered and no suspect was found at the scene. Officers discovered the body of a Mr. Hutchison in the main bedroom.

 

Just before 7:00 a.m. Gearhart Police made contact at the 3200 block of HWY 101 North, the last known address of the suspect. Officers learned that the suspect had returned to the apartment and was last seen on foot around 6:30 a.m... At approximately 7:00 a.m. officers spotted the suspect walking southbound on foot near 12th Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident at the bus stop just north of 12th Avenue and Roosevelt.

 

Forensic specialists from the Oregon State Patrol Crime Lab are continuing to process the scene and detectives from the Clatsop County Major Crime Team are continuing to interview the suspect and gather information.
