Spring Break Family Oriented

Seaside Police report Spring Break continues to attract families and the second weekend was relatively quiet. This past weekend which was the conclusion of Oregon’s Spring Break and the start of Washington’s was a little more active than the first weekend but nothing major was reported. Officers working the weekend issued twenty traffic citations, fourteen citations for Minor in Possession/Consumption of Intoxicating Liquor, and made eighteen additional criminal arrests. Those arrests included Driving While Under the Influence, Warrants, Theft, Possession of Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, and Disorderly Conduct.

The most unusual arrest this past weekend involved an intoxicated minor who walked up to two undercover Seaside Officers issuing Minor In Possession of Alcohol citations on the beach. After talking with the officers and the people at the campfire, the minor realized who the officers were and what they were doing. His revelation was a bit late and he too received a citation.  Total arrests for both weekends included forty traffic citations, twenty-one citations for Minor in Possession/Consumption of Intoxicating Liquor, and officers made twenty-six additional criminal arrests that included Driving While Under the Influence, Warrants, Possession of Less Than an Ounce of Marijuana, Disorderly Conduct, Theft, Trespass, and Furnishing Liquor to a Minor.

The Seaside Police Department wishes to thank officers from the Oregon State Police, Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, Astoria Police, Warrenton Police, Gearhart, Cannon Beach, and Oregon Liquor Control Commission for helping to make this year’s Spring Break successful.
