SPRING IS HERE & SPRING BREAK IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER

The Seaside Police Department and Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District are putting the final touches on their preparations for Spring Break. While Park and Recreation is planning a host of events and activities, the police department is gearing up for the increase of visitors.

Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District will have an open gym at Broadway Middle School both Friday and Saturday nights from 7-11pm. as well as late night swimming at Sunset Pool from 7-11pm on both Friday and Saturday nights. There is a Magic Show at the Convention Center Friday March 24th, a skateboard competition March 25th and April 1st, a free teen concert Monday March 27th, and lots of other great activities over the 9 days... As for the Seaside Police Department, they will be joined by officers from Astoria, Gearhart, Warrenton, Cannon Beach, Oregon State Police, and the Clatsop County Sheriffs office to provide safety for our visitors. OSP troopers will be enforcing traffic laws along Highway 26 and 101 as well as providing some bicycle patrols in the downtown area. In addition to our regular patrol shifts, other officers are assigned foot patrols in the downtown area and the Clatsop County Mounted Posse will be patrolling the beach.

Recent history shows Spring Break in Seaside is attracting more and more families and we are looking forward to them enjoying their stay. Some things to remember whether a resident or just visiting are:

  • Seaside maintains a zero tolerance for Minor in Possession or Consumption of Intoxicating Beverages. Bail is set at $300
  • Seaside Ordinance prohibits minors under the age of 18 (unless accompanied by a parent or guardian) from being upon any street, highway, park, alley or other place between midnight and 4AM.
  • Seaside City Ordinance prohibits alcohol beverages on the beach during Spring Break. Those found in possession of alcoholic beverages can be cited for Open Container.
  • Seaside City Ordinance prohibits open container of alcoholic beverages anywhere within the City. Bail is set at $700.

The City of Seaside Safety Committee hopes everyone will have a safe and fun Seaside experience; while Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District is working to see that you have fun, the Seaside Police Department will be working to see that you are safe.
