TWO MINORS CITED AFTER ASKING OFF DUTY
SEASIDE OFFICER TO PURCHASE BEER
Just before 2 am Thursday morning two minors
flagged down an off-duty Seaside
police officer and asked him to buy them some beer. Their efforts got them
citations for Minor in Possession of Liquor.
It all started when a Seaside officer finished his shift and stopped by Stop N
Go on South Roosevelt. He noticed that two
minor were hanging around the business and suspected they may be looking for
someone to purchase liquor for them. The officer notified dispatch who had
already received a similar report on the boys and an officer had been
dispatched.
As the off-duty officer was
leaving the store parking lot, he was flagged down by the two minors who asked
him to buy them some beer. The officer identified himself and told them to stay
there until an on-duty officer arrived. One subject took off running but was
quickly apprehended by the responding officer. The other subject remained until
contacted by an on-duty officer.
Eighteen year-old Lewis E.
Bryant and a seventeen year-old male both of Portland was cited for Minor in Possession of
Liquor. Bryant was released at the scene and the seventeen year-old juvenile
was later released to an older brother who drove down from Portland.
When released, the seventeen
year-old said he didn’t realize Seaside
had a zero tolerance to underage drinking. He does now!
