SEASIDE POLICE
ARREST TAGGER
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. Monday evening, Seaside Police
responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of 17th Avenue.
The initial report indicated a male subject left the vehicle and headed towards
the wood shop area of Seaside
High School. Officers
located a government vehicle registered out of Fort Lewis
but were unable to locate anyone around the wood shop. While checking the area,
officers discovered that Seaside
High School had been
spray painted with graffiti, and a short time later a male subject was observed
coming out of the bushes, placing items on the ground.
When contacted the male subject admitted that he tagged the
school and the items he put down where spray paint and a stencil he had made
identifying himself as “Lego Man”. The suspect was identified as Army Corporal
Randal Mackey, age 23 stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He told officers he
was staying a Camp
Rilea for some training
and got bored. The damage done as a result of the graffiti to Seaside High School
is estimated to be in excess of $2,000. Corporal Mackey was arrested and
charged with Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree and Unlawful
Possession of Graffiti Implements. He is currently being held in the Clatsop
County Jail awaiting arraignment. Spray cans, a stencil, and receipt for the
spray cans were recovered at the scene.
