SEASIDE POLICE ANNOUNCE INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN TRAINING FOR KIDS AND PARENTS

Seaside Police in partnership with the Seaside School District have scheduled training for middle school students and parents to help keep them from becoming victims of internet predators. The training is scheduled for two sessions on Wednesday May 23rd at Broadway Middle School. The first session is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and will be directed at the students to help them understand what threats are on the internet and give them the tools to keep them safe.

The evening session scheduled for 6:30 p.m. is designed to educate parents about the risks their children and teens may be exposed to. They will learn helpful tips that will allow their kids to use the internet safely and ensure they do not become targets of internet predators. These threats include exposure to inappropriate material, sexual solicitation, and harassment & bullying.

The Seaside Police Department and Oregon Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force will provide the training, answer questions, and provide additional sources to help parents become more computer literate. If you have kids or teens that spend time on the internet, this is a program you don’t want to miss. The training is free and open to the public.
