Seaside Police Receive Helmets

The Seaside Police Department is pleased to announce they have received 247 multi-purpose helmets to be given away to area children. The purchase of these helmets was made possible through the generous donations of Geri Chisholm (Sunrise Apts.), Bichsel & Associates LLC, Seaside Chamber Director Alan Smiles, Parks & Recreation Director Mary Blake, Rotary Club of Seaside, Seaside Kiwanis, Beach Development, Seaside Downtown Development Association, Seaside Chamber of Commerce, and the Seaside Volunteer Fire Department.

Oregon Law requires anyone under the age of 16 who is riding a bicycle, skateboard, scooter, or using inline skates to wear a protective helmet. In an effort to increase children’s safety, officers will be increasing the efforts in looking for those not wearing protective helmets, making them aware of the law, and giving them the opportunity to get a protective helmet free. The Seaside Police will now be able to furnish a helmet to those who don’t have one by having them simply come to the police department with a parent and being properly fitted with a protective helmet at no cost.

For children needing a multi-purpose helmet, they, along with a parent can contact CSO Travis Caulder at the Seaside Police Department Tuesday – Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. We again wish to thank everyone who donated to help make our children safer.
