PRESS RELEASE
HALLOWEEN
SAFETY
With Halloween coming up the Seaside Police Department reminds parents to take a few minutes to go over some safety tips with their children. Remind your little ones to:
· Walk, don’t run
· Cross the street only at corners.
· Never cross between parked cars.
· Walk facing the oncoming traffic if there is no sidewalk.
· Always remove masks before crossing street.
· Be aware of cars that may be turning into or backing out of driveways.
· Never go into a stranger’s house.
Parents too need to remember safety to by:
· Making sure children’s costumes are made of bright material or include reflector strips on the costume.
· Making sure children are accompanied by an adult and know the route their children will be taking.
· Setting time limits on when children should return home.
· Explaining to children the difference between tricks and vandalism.
· Instructing children NOT to eat treats until they return home and parents have had a chance to inspect those treats.
· If you find a suspicious treat, save it and contact the police department.
Remember, this is an exciting time for children and safety it not their number one thought. We all need to do our part to remember SAFETY this Halloween to ensure we make it safe and fun for everyone. HAPPY HALLOWEEN from the Seaside Police Department.
