NEWS RELEASE
SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CRIMINAL MISCHIEF TO
SEASIDE
RESTROOMS
Friday afternoon at
approximately 3:30 p.m. Seaside Police arrested Daniel Howard Williams, age 28
of Seaside in connections with ongoing criminal
mischief to restrooms throughout Seaside.
The arrest followed a stakeout at the Oceanway restroom where obscene material
and writing on the bathroom wall were found right after Mr. Williams used the
restroom.
For several months restrooms
in Seaside have
been experiencing writing on bathroom walls and obscene material being left.
Officers have conducted periodic stakeouts at different restrooms and on Friday
the department Community Service Officer was observing the Oceanway restroom
when the arrest was made.
Following interviews with the
suspect, he was booked and released on charges of Criminal Mischief, Furnishing
Obscene Material to Minors and Disorderly Conduct. As a condition of his
release Mr. Williams is forbidden from being in any City restroom or the
downtown Arcade where obscene material was
also found. The department is gathering all of the incidents that have taken
place and will be forwarding everything to the District Attorney’s Officer for
review and formal changes.
